Operating experience. Advisory rigor.
Technology leadership for companies that can't afford to guess.

We help growth-stage and PE-backed companies build, scale, and de-risk their technology organizations — led by an operator who has actually run the job, not just advised on it.

WHO WE HELP

E6 Advisors works across three related problems, all rooted in the same question: is your technology organization actually built to deliver on the business plan? For Growing Companies
Fractional and interim CTO leadership, technology strategy, and organizational design for companies that need senior technical leadership without a full-time executive hire — or need an outside operator to fix something a full-time hire hasn't.

HOW WE WORK

Three principles that shape every engagement.1. We start with the operating reality, not the framework.
Every recommendation is stress-tested against "would this actually work on a Tuesday," because we've had to make it work on a Tuesday.
2. We're built for regulated, technical environments.
Healthcare, healthtech, and other compliance-heavy industries aren't an afterthought — they're where we spend most of our time.
3. We tell you what we'd do if it were our company.
No hedged findings. Diligence reports and strategy recommendations come with a real point of view, because that's what's actually useful to a board or a deal team on a deadline.

Have a technology problem that needs an operator's eye, not another deck?

Services

Senior technology leadership, applied where it's actually needed.

Whether you need a CTO for six months, a second opinion on a technology strategy, or an outside operator to fix something that isn't working, E6 Advisors engages at the level of depth the problem actually requires — not a standard package.

FRACTIONAL & INTERIM TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP

If you need CTO-level leadership but aren't ready for — or don't need — a full-time hire, we step in as an embedded executive: setting technical strategy, building or rebuilding engineering leadership, managing vendor and offshore relationships, and representing technology at the board level.

MANAGEMENT & TECHNOLOGY CONSULTING

Focused, time-boxed engagements to answer a specific strategic question: build vs. buy, offshore vs. in-house, how to structure an AI adoption effort that survives contact with a real engineering org, or how to redesign a technology organization around where the business is actually headed.

TECHNOLOGY & ORGANIZATIONAL DUE DILIGENCE

For companies going through a transaction, fundraise, or board-level review, we assess the technology organization the way a buyer would: talent, architecture, vendor exposure, and technical debt, translated into plain business risk.If you're a PE firm evaluating a deal, see our PE Advisory services.

HOW ENGAGEMENTS WORK

We keep engagement structures simple:Fractional / retainer — ongoing, part-time embedded leadership, typically 3–12 month arrangementsProject-based — a defined scope, deliverable, and timeline for a specific strategic questionAdvisory — lighter-touch, ongoing access for boards and leadership teams who want a standing outside technical perspectiveEvery engagement starts with a short scoping conversation — not a sales pitch, a real conversation about whether we're the right fit.

PE Advisory

Technology diligence and portfolio value creation, from someone who currently runs the job.

Most technical due diligence is performed by people who consult on engineering organizations. E6 Advisors is run by someone who is actively operating one — as CTO of a PE-backed healthcare AI SaaS company, currently leading the same vendor transitions, AI-enabled delivery rollouts, and org-design decisions your portfolio companies are wrestling with. That distinction matters on a deal timeline: findings come with an operator's sense of what's actually fixable, what's a real flag, and what's normal noise.

TECHNICAL & TECHNOLOGY DUE DILIGENCE

Pre-close or pre-investment-committee assessment of a target's technology organization, delivered on deal timelines:- Engineering organization structure, leadership depth, and key-person risk- Architecture, technical debt, and scalability against the growth thesis- Vendor and outsourced-engineering exposure — contracts, concentration risk, transition cost- Security, compliance, and data posture (particular depth in HIPAA-regulated and other compliance-heavy environments)- A clear, board-ready risk translation — not a 40-page technical audit nobody on the deal team will read

PORTFOLIO COMPANY ADVISORY

Post-close, hands-on advisory to help portfolio company leadership execute on the value-creation plan — often picking up exactly where the diligence findings left off:- Vendor-to-in-house engineering transitions and offshore/outsourcing economics- AI-enabled development adoption that actually changes delivery economics, not just tooling- Engineering leadership assessment, restructuring, and hiring support- Interim or fractional CTO placement while a permanent search is underway- Ongoing technical advisory for portfolio company boards

WHAT SETS THIS APART

Current operating context. Findings and recommendations are grounded in what's actually happening inside a comparable organization right now, not a framework from a training deck.Regulated-industry depth. Deep, current experience in healthcare AI and other HIPAA-governed environments — where the technology risk and the compliance risk are the same risk.Speed without hand-waving. Deal and portfolio timelines don't wait for a committee. Scoping calls, findings, and recommendations move at deal pace.A real point of view. Every diligence report and advisory recommendation states what we'd actually do — not a menu of hedged options.

HOW A PE ENGAGEMENT TYPICALLY STARTS

1. Scoping call — understand the deal timeline, the specific questions the deal team needs answered, and what's already known2. Diligence sprint or portfolio assessment — focused, time-boxed work product aligned to your decision deadline3. Findings & recommendation — a direct, board-ready readout, plus availability for follow-up questions from the investment committee or portfolio leadership4. (Optional) Ongoing support — fractional leadership or advisory retainer if the portfolio company needs hands-on help executing

About

A Nashville-based advisory practice built around real operating experience.

E6 Advisors was founded to close a gap we kept seeing: most technology advisory work is done by people who've studied operating a technology organization, not people currently doing it. We built the firm the other way around.

FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL

Zach Evans leads E6 Advisors. He currently serves as Chief Technology Officer of a private-equity-backed healthcare AI SaaS company, where he leads a global engineering organization of 100+ people across a seven-year tenure. Over roughly 25 years in technology leadership, he's operated across startup, Fortune 100, and PE-backed SaaS environments — giving him a working view of how technology decisions actually play out at very different scales and ownership structures. He serves on the board of the Nashville Technology Council, advises a venture capital firm's investment committee, and writes on healthtech, AI governance, and technology leadership through his Substack, Digital Evolutionary.

HOW THE MODEL WORKS

E6 Advisors is built around a senior operator at the center, backed by a small network of vetted specialists we bring in when an engagement calls for deeper bench strength — security specialists, data architects, or additional fractional leadership, depending on what the work requires. Every engagement is led personally; the network exists to add depth, not to hand work off.

WHAT WE VALUE

Operator credibility over frameworks. If a recommendation wouldn't survive being implemented by the person making it, it doesn't go in the deck.Plain language. Boards, deal teams, and executive teams get direct findings and direct recommendations — not hedged consulting language designed to avoid being wrong.Regulated-industry fluency. Healthcare and other compliance-heavy industries aren't a specialty we bolt on — it's where most of our operating experience actually lives.
